Ray G. Woerner, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, in Kerrville, Texas, at the age of 80. He was born in Mason, Texas, to Charlie and Cecilia Woerner on October 6, 1936. He married Shirley E. Wehmeyer on March 13, 1981, in Kerrville, TX.\r\n \r\nRay graduated from Tivy High School in 1955. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force and in the National Guard. He worked as a meat cutter for H.E.B. for 24 years, retiring in 1999.\r\n \r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Cecilia, and siblings Flora Thurman, John Woerner, Lucille Cummings and Charles Woerner. \r\n \r\nRay is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his daughters Angie Newby, Pam Ficker (husband Mike), Tamra Sherron (husband Marc), and RaDona Taylor (husband Tim); grandchildren Emily and Grace Newby, Tyler Baxter, Macrae Sherron, Rachelle and Danielle Curtis, Sara Taylor, Tiffany and Tara Liesmann; and eight great-grandchildren. Ray is also survived by his sister, Betty Harris.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00pm, Saturday, June 10, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Monday, June 12, at Kerrville Bible Church with Chris McKnight and Blair Cushman officiating. A private burial will be held separately. \r\n \r\nHonorary pallbearers are Ted Newby, Lou Liesmann, James Wood, Ray Wehmeyer, James "Tooter" Bowlin, Lynn Isham and Jack Moore.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given to the charity of your choice. \r\n \r\nRay's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Rachelle Curtis and Marlyn Gilbert with Peterson Hospital; the staff of Peterson Hospice; and River Hill Health and Rehab, especially Irene Gomez, Ruby Morales, Tammy Morris and Tambra Morehead.\r\n \r\nPrecious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.
