Polly Swanson

Paulette (Polly) Anne Swanson, age 72 of Kerrville, TX, passed in her sleep at home June 25th, 2017.\r\n \r\nPolly was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated Polly's Pet Parlor for three decades in Birmingham, AL prior to selling her business.\r\n \r\nHer love for animals was unequaled. Her greatest passion being her parti-colored cocker spaniels. During forty plus years of exhibiting cocker spaniels her prefix "Legend" accrued over one hundred and ten AKC Champions. Her achievements also included the resurgence of several colors previously thought lost to the breed. "Legend" cockers are shown and loved in many countries.\r\n \r\nPolly was also a longtime AKC judge. Her assignments took her across the United States as well as England, Finland, Sweden, and Australia.\r\n \r\nHer favorite family activity was exploring the National Parks System, first with her children and in later years with her grandchildren.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Ralph (Skip) Swanson of Kerrville, TX, a Naval aviator that captured her heart fifty years ago. \r\n \r\nPolly is also survived by sisters, Shirley Callahan and Tammy Shupe; children, Erika Swanson and Michael Swanson; grandchildren, Jessica Dickerson, Jareth Swanson, Jacqulyn Swanson, Jet Sapp and Colt Sapp; great-grandchildren, Jameson Dickerson and Madilyn Dickerson; in addition to a host of nephews and nieces.\r\n \r\nThere will be a memorial service at 7 PM, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dietert Center Meals on Wheels.\r\n
