Polly Helm, 82, of Kerrville was carried home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 6, 2015.\r\n \r\nPolly was born in Cooke County, Texas on April 4, 1933 to Doc and Ruby Allred. She attended High School and Junior College in Gainesville, Texas. She later graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas in 1953 with a degree in English and Education.\r\n \r\nShe met her sweet husband Eugene "Gene" Helm in Corpus Christi, Texas and one year later they were married at the Sinton Texas Church of Christ on July 17, 1954. She survived Gene, who passed away on January 8, 2014. They would have been married 61 years.\r\n \r\nA respected educator, Polly worked in Elementary Education for over 40 years, touching the lives of many. She taught in Corpus Christi for 2 years before moving to San Antonio when Gene joined the Army. Polly continued teaching at Pershing Elementary School, 2 years, and Navarro Elementary School, 13 years. After Polly and Gene relocated to Medina and then Kerrville, Texas, she taught at Starkey Elementary School, 18 years, and Notre Dame Catholic School, 11 years.\r\n \r\nThey made their home in Kerrville, Texas with their son and daughter, Timothy and Tamra. Polly and Gene were proud members of the Kerrville Church of Christ for over 40 years. One of Polly's greatest joys was watching her husband, Gene, lead the Church congregation in song. Her family is comforted by the knowledge that she has now joined Gene in heaven.\r\n \r\nA beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by Timothy Helm and wife, Diane of Elkhart; daughter, Tamra Hartman and husband, Stacy of Kerrville; grandchildren, Doug and Erin Helm of Spring, Colby and wife, Stacy Jobes of New Braunfels, Kelsey Monroe of Austin, Brenna Helm of Kerrville, Carly and Lee Hartman of Fort Worth, Andres Flores and Jimmy Flores and wife, Kendra of Palestine; great-grandchildren, Alivia, Asher and August Helm of Spring, Jackson and Hailey Jobes of New Braunfels, Trevor and wife, Mandi, and Alexander Flores, and Anna, Aron, and Eden Flores of Palestine.\r\n \r\nAn intimate family memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.\r\n \r\n1 Peter 1:8-9\r\n \r\nAnd though you have not seen Him, you love Him and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressibly and full of glory obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
