Peggy Arleen Pingleton Adams, age 84, died peacefully in her sleep at home on the Pingleton Ranch in Bandera on October 19. 2023. She was born on December 25,1938 to Arlie Ruede Pingleton and Troy Boston Pingleton in San Antonio, Texas. She attended the Bandera Catholic School, graduated from Bandera High School and went on to complete her studies at Incarnate Word, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology and many other degrees.
She married Benjamin Tomlinson Adams, Sr. on August 24, 1962 and they raised their three children on the Pingleton ranch in a home they both helped build. She became a deputy in the office of Bandera County Treasurer, Elizabeth James, who was also a good friend, and worked there until Elizabeth retired in 1996. Following that, she enjoyed her life as a mother and ranch wife, where she loved to watch the birds who visited their home. Peggy was active in the Bandera Volunteer Fire Department, Bandera Civil Defense with her husband, Tommy, was a Boy Scout Den Mother, and served in Bandera Little League and Bandera County 4-H. She also worked at the Shonto Ranch for 16 years.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Doris Pingleton Watts, and her husband, Benjamin Tomlinson Adams, Sr. She is survived by her sons, Benjamin Tomlinson Adams, Jr. and Troy Wayne Adams, her daughter, Gayla Arleen Adams, three granddaughters, Jade Konz, Kaylyn Adams, and Remington Adams Carrillo, a niece, and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2023 at the Bandera United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m.
