Pedro (Pete) Vargas, known by his closest friends as Chulo, age 88 of Kerrville passed away on 9-27-18.\r\n \r\nHe was born in Kerrville TX to Emilio and Jesusa Vargas on October 25, 1929. He married the love of his life, Mary Sanchez, on February 22, 1948 in Kerrville, TX. \r\n\r\nDuring his teenage years Pete enjoyed playing baseball, he played for the Kerrville Cardinals and the Kerrville Tigers. Pete picked cotton in West Texas as a young man. He worked at the State Hospital for a short time. He also worked for Kerrville Telephone Co. from the early 60's until he retired in 1995. After retirement he loved playing golf with his best friends Teco, Ciro and Raymond Hardee. He also enjoyed making golf clubs, woodworking and working with numbers. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Pete was a member of the Notre Dame Catholic Church where he served as an usher and enjoyed doing anything to help the church community.\r\n\r\nPete is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Mary Vargas, Pedro Jr, Emilio and Selza. \r\n\r\nPete is survived by: Molly Alvarado, Robert Vargas (wife Lela), Kathy Villarreal (husband Marcus) and Debbie Quintero (husband Jim). He had 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. \r\n\r\nRosary will be October 1st at 6 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel. \r\nFuneral Services will be held Tuesday October 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic church, with Father David officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be: Tony Alvarado, Mario Villarreal, Donaven Alvarado, Marcus Alan Villarreal and Eric Vargas. Honorary pallbearers: Jacob Quintero, Joseph Vargas and Frank Collazo Jr. \r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Sid Peterson Hospice or St. Vincent De Paul.
