Pat Castillo, age 71, of Kerrville passed away on November 17, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Kerrville.\r\n\r\nPat was born in Kerrville to Juan Castillo and Juanita Gonzales Rodriguez on February 3, 1946. Pat is proceeded in death by his father Juan Castillo, mother Juanita and step-father Blas Rodriguez, Sr., grandparents Emilio and Manuela Gonzales, nephew Rick Rodriguez and great nephew Izaiah Rodriguez.\r\n\r\nPat is survived by sister Nelda Dimery and husband John of Austin, brother Claudio Castillo of Kerrville, brother Blas Rodriguez, Jr and wife Linda of Boerne, aunt Pauline Trevino of Kerrville and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.\r\n\r\nPat attended Tivy High School in Kerrville and graduated in 1965. Pat was a veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served in the United States Air Force. Pat was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit with "V" device, Vietnam Service Medal, Rep of Vietnam Campaign medal, Rep of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and Palm, Good Conduct medal, Small Arms medal and the National Defense medal. Pat worked as a plumber assistant for Kenneth Greeson for many years.\r\n\r\nPat lived for a time in Hawaii and really liked being there. He would always ask his nieces and nephews "who's been to Hawaii. I've been there ten times!" Pat and cousin Kina were the family historians and enjoyed sharing stories with whoever asked questions.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Doctors Speck, Fritzsch, Barrington and Chyle and staff. And a special thanks to the Kerrville VA 6th floor Hospice staff for the care and compassion they gave to our brother.\r\n\r\nFuneral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.\r\n\r\nRosary will be at 6pm on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapel.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Notre \r\nDame Catholic Church. \r\n\r\nPall bearers are Brandon Dimery, Eric Trevino, Jimmy Gonzales, Tony Gonzales, Mario Benavides, and Julian Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are John Dimery, Rudy Tovar, Steve Silvas, and Richard Ayala.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to the American Cancer Association or the charity of your choice.\r\n\r\n\r\n
