Oliver Strickland

Oliver (Sonny) Strickland, 79, of Doss, passed away on May 14, 2019 in Doss, TX. He was born in Burkett, TX to Tom and Girlie Strickland on January 12, 1940.\r\n\r\nHe went to school at Burkett. He graduated from Cross Plains High School. He worked in the oil field with BJ Hughes and drove for Jim's truck service. He was also a heavy equipment operator. \r\n\r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary Hightower and Noreen (Tootie) Rhoads; and his brothers Tom, Jack, and Bill Strickland. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Marla Strickland, Terry and Sandy Strickland, Stephen and Janice Strickland, Scott and Shelly Strickland, Rebecca and Jeremiah Cook, Ed Strickland, Stefanie Quimby, Katie Rae Preston, Faith Strickland, Claire Strickland, Jackson Cook and Jarrison Cook, and numerous nephews and nieces. \r\n\r\nMemorial Services for Sonny Strickland will be held at the Cemetery Pavilion on Saturday June 1st at 11:00 a.m. in Burkett, TX. The celebration of his life will follow at the Methodist Church in Burkett. \r\n\r\nMemorial donations may be given to Hill Country Memorial Hospice Care or your favorite charity. \r\n\r\n
