Ofelia Garcia

Ofelia Garcia, age 92, was born on September 10, 1925, in Saspamco, Texas to Octavio and Florinda Ybarra Valero. She died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 8, 2017. \r\n \r\nDuring her life she worked for several years as a Custodian for Tivy Elementary, and various hotels in Kerrville. At an early age, she picked cotton and pecans with her mother and siblings. She was well known to keep an impeccable home. You could always find her with a clean home and wonderfully cooked food, listening and singing to her favorite music of Freddy Fender and Vicente Fernandez. \r\n \r\nOfelia loved her family and had a strong passion to have them near her. She was hospitable and always ready to prepare a meal for you. Ofelia was a wonderful gardener. She also loved to spend time with her mother and sisters. One of her favorite holidays was Halloween, and loved to dress up and scare her grandchildren. She always did all the cooking for the holidays and always made sure everyone else ate before she did. \r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Candelario Garcia; sons, Candelario Garcia Jr. and Daniel Garcia.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by 6 children: two sons, John Menchaca and wife, Gwen and Leroy Menchaca and wife, Alice; four daughters, Yolanda Perez, Linda Boone, Adela Virgen and husband, Danny, Patsy Mathison and husband, James. She leaves behind 23 grandchildren, Paloma Menchaca, Davin Magno, Joanie Dennett, Albert Menchaca, Venessa Silva, Margaret Garcia, Mario Garcia, Jerry Garcia, Candelario III, Rene Garcia, Marty Garcia, Eric Auld, Raymond Perez, April Perez, Anthony Perez, Johnny Perez, Manual V. Ontiveros, RoseMarie Villareal, J.D. Mathison, Summer Mathison, Sierra Mathison, Michael Boone and Mathew Boone; 36 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.\r\n \r\nRosary will be held 6 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Deacon Jimmy Bill.\r\n \r\nMass will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 13, 2017 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father David Wagner as Celebrant. Interment will be at Guadalupe Cemetery. \r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Mario Garcia, Candelario Garcia III, Eric Auld, Manual Ontiveros, Raymond Perez, Anthony Perez, Michael Boone and Mathew Boone.\r\n
