Nina Lucille Deeter Ellis, of Kerrville, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Kerrville. She was born on Petite Jean Mountain in Arkansas to Albert Merrill Deeter and Ethel Esther Huggins Deeter on December 23, 1916. She married Ollie M. Ellis on September 1, 1938 in Bryan, Texas.\r\n \r\nShe went to high school in Maude, Oklahoma and graduated from Central High School in 1935 as Salutatorian. Nina then took courses at Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, Arkansas and East Central State Teachers College in Ada, Oklahoma. She graduated from UTEP in El Paso in 1976 with a BA in Languages.\r\n \r\nNina traveled throughout the US (as an Air Force wife) plus two tours in Germany. She was active in many activities that their children were involved in during those 25 years.\r\n \r\nSince moving to Kerrville in 1978, Nina volunteered at the Dietert Resale Shop, was a member of the DAR organization, Eastern Star and the Red Hat. She was a writer, artist and an all-round "do-it-yourselfer".\r\n \r\nNina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and her brother.\r\n \r\nNina is survived by her daughter, Patricia of Dale, Texas; her sons, Patrick (Patti) of Garland and Richard of Lancaster, California; her sister, Dorothy Fox of Rockwall, Texas; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. \r\n \r\nServices will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Mac McCoy officiating.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be made to a charity of choice, such as Wounded Warriors or Cancer Society.\r\n \r\n\r\n
