Gladys Marie Rubio Hill, age 92, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Fredericksburg, Texas. She was born December 3, 1924 in Bluefields, Nicaragua. \r\n \r\nWhen Gladys came to the United States to attend the University of Texas at Austin, her suite mates decided to call her Nikki. \r\n \r\nNikki's daughters, Nancy Davila and Tori Miller and son in law David Miller will always have stories to tell about Nikki to her six grandchildren and four great granddaughters. She had a fascinating and fabulous life. \r\n \r\nNikki was the star of Los Ninos, one of the first bilingual educational television shows in the country and was instrumental in developing bilingual educational programs for school systems in the United States.\r\n \r\nNikki's friends will always remember her as the Champanza Queen and being the life of the party.\r\n \r\nOur thanks go to Ronda Garcia and Sandi Garcia for caring so much about Nikki and to Rodney Hill for making sure Nikki was taken care of as his dad, John Hill, would want. And special thanks to Randy Ersch for all he did to care for his mom #2. \r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Kerrville, officiated by The Rev. Tom Murray. \r\n
