Neva Ruth Belcher Reed, 90, a long time resident of Medina, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019 following a brief illness. She was born to Haywood Richard Belcher and Dovie Anna Phillips Belcher on February 26, 1929 in Robert Lee, Texas. She graduated from Medina High School in 1948 and married James Byron "J.B." Reed on January 8, 1949. She was a homemaker, mother of five children and worked at the Medina Independent School District for over 20 years. She loved all children, reading, gardening, cooking, sewing and crafts. After retirement she returned to a love of oil painting she began in high school. She was a member of the art group at Silver Sage for many years. For the past 20 years she has kept busy daily with five versions of computer\r\nsolitaire, for which she kept track of her best scores, and crossword puzzles which she insisted on doing in ink.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband J.B. Reed; her parents Haywood and Annie Belcher; her brothers H.R. Jr., Boyd and James Belcher; and her sister Allie Belcher Reed. She is survived by her daughters Terre Reed of Medina and Kimberly (David) Larson of Junction; sons Keith (Bobbie) Reed of Medina, David Reed of Medina and Bill (Karen) Reed of San Antonio; grandchildren Chris, Heather, Dusty, Jennifer, Tracey, D.J., Drew, Reed, Reagan and Hayley; great grandchildren Alyssa, Tristan, Tori, Ella, Alex, Chace, Caysn, Crewe, Alice, Aaron, Abigail and Atticus.\r\n\r\nThe family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Friday, December 13th at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. A service will held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 14th, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera with Lewis Ray Melton officiating. Interment will follow at Means Cemetery in Medina.\r\n\r\nPallbearers are Chris Leonard, D.J. Reed, Drew Larson, Reed Larson, Reagan Reed and John Taccetta. Honorary pallbearers are Tristan Vannatter, P.J. Jefferson, Chris Gizzi and Mike Schreckenbach.\r\n\r\nThose who desire may make a memorial gift to the Medina ISD Library System in Medina, Texas.
