Nell Irene (Thomas) Sevey, 92, of Center Point, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 4, 2016, at her home in Center Point. She was born in Carthage, Texas to Charles Ernest Thomas and Burney Blanche Anderson Thomas on September 11, 1923. She married Fred W. Sevey on November 13, 1947 in Orange, Texas.\r\n \r\nNell went to school at Carthage, Texas and graduated from Panola County High School. In her early years, she worked as a shipping clerk at the Orange (Texas) Ship Yards. For over 40 years she worked (and later managed) the Center Point Variety Store/Love's Antique Store, which she loved dearly.\r\n \r\nShe was involved in the Center Point Lions Club, Center Point Alliance for Progress, Center Point Historical Society, Center Point Garden Club, Center Point Red Hats, and Center Point American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Center Point Order of the Eastern Star where she was an active member since 1965. Nell was also a Charter Member of the WWII Museum, a member of the Center Point United Methodist Church, and was the Election Judge in Center Point for many years. In her early years in Center Point, Nell taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Girls' Auxiliary, and was a member of the choir at the First Baptist Church in Center Point. She chaperoned numerous school band trips, among other school functions.\r\n \r\nNell was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Sevey, and three brothers.\r\n \r\nNell is survived by four sons, Wayne Campbell and wife, Pam, Robert Sevey and wife, Karen, Earl Sevey and wife, Linda, and Fred C. Sevey and wife, Jackie; one daughter, Cheryl Hahn and husband, James; 11 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Center Point United Methodist Church (on Church Street in Center Point, Texas) with the Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. A family burial will take place in Carthage, Texas this fall.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Center Point United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
