Nellie Mae "Nell" Bierschwale passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015.\r\n\r\nNell was born in East Texas on April 17, 1915 to Annie Seaton Haney and William Oscar Haney. Mr. Haney died when Nell was 6 months old and with 3 older sisters, times were hard for Nell's family.\r\n\r\nAbout 6 years later, Nell's mother married Frank Edward Bihl of Fort McKavett. Nell grew up in Fort McKavett with a loving and caring mother, stepfather, 2 new sisters and finally a brother.\r\n\r\nIn 1935 she met and married Charles H. Bierschwale of Junction and Ft. McKavett. Daughter JoAnn was born at Fort McKavett December 4, 1936. After ranching briefly in Sutton County, they moved to the Fairview Ranch near Rocksprings, Texas. Charles H. Bierschwale, Jr. Was born in January 1941. \r\n\r\nNell was a housewife, but helped often with the ranch chores. Nell and Charlie lived in Rocksprings during the school years 1947-1950, then moved back to the ranch permanently. They never missed basketball or football games as both kids were very active in sports.\r\n\r\nNell and Charlie retired in 1976, living in Ingram where they enjoyed a happy retirement and 61 years of marriage.\r\n\r\nNell loved reading, her dogs and walked everyday until her death.\r\n\r\nNell was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles; daughter JoAnn Bierschwale Williams; 5 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by her son, Charles H. Bierschwale, Jr. And wife Cheryl of Kerrville, 5 grandchildren, Chuck L. Bierschwale, Charla Simpson, Cindy Smith, Cathy Swaim, Carolyn Jennings, step-grandchild Kinley Coyan as well as many Great Great Grandchildren.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM Monday, June 29, 2015 at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.\r\n\r\n Graveside services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Harper Cemetery with Father Tom Murray from St. Peter's Episcopal Church officiating. \r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank all the staff at Riverhills Health and Rehab Center for taking wonderful care of Nell during the 7 years she was there, making us all family. Thanks to the staff from Hospice for all of the support they provided. Also, the compassion, love and continued help Wanda Franco provided throughout the last 8 years of Nell's life.
