Nancy Elizabeth (Ellington Walker) Shilling, 84, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 in Kerrville, Texas. A South Texas native, Nancy was born August 31, 1933 to Wiley E. and LaBertha Ellington.\r\n\r\nNancy grew up on her family farm in Lyford and married her high school sweetheart, John T. Walker, Jr. From that union, Johnny, Gary, Jimmy, Randy and Nancy were born. After 17 years of marriage, Nancy became a single parent of five children. The next 7 years were incredibly special to Nancy as some of her most precious memories were created with her children. In March of 1972, Nancy married the love of her life, Merle "Jiggs" Shilling. From that joyous occasion, Jigg's daughter, Drucilla, joined the family and Nancy could not have asked for a better father in Jiggs for all six children.\r\n\r\nNancy was a homemaker, clerk (Thompson's Dairy), teaching assistant (Donna Public Schools), floral designer (Donna Flower and Gifts) and office manager (Rio Grande Valley Gas Company) during her professional career. After retirement, Nancy and Jiggs lived in Donna, traveled the country in their RV and put in much volunteer time with the Weslaco Elks Lodge and Donna United Methodist Church. Jigg's dream was to live in the Hill Country one day, so they made the dream move to Kerrville in the late 1990s. With exception to family, gardening was Nancy's greatest passion.\r\n\r\nNancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jiggs; sons, Johnny and Gary; and her cherished four-legged companions, Dutch and Smokey. \r\n\r\nSurvivors include Drucilla (Jimmy) Triplitt, Jimmy (Gail) Walker, Randy Walker and Nancy Walker Watkins; grandchildren, Tracey (John) Finnerin, Tory (Brian) Walker, Layden (Trish) Walker, Corbin (Michelle) Walker, Chris (Ti) Walker, Tony Walker, and Grace Watkins; and 6 great-grandchildren. Nancy's last years were blessed and graced by companion, Mac Barnett and his family; her sister, Bessie Ralston; and beloved niece and husband, Ruby and Darrell Jones. \r\n \r\nFuneral services to be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church-Kerrville with Pastor Randall Hilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. \r\n \r\nPallbearers include John Finnerin, Jack Finnerin, Layden Walker, Corbin Walker, Chris Walker and Tony Walker. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Nancy E. Shilling.\r\n \r\n\r\n
