Nancy "Nannan" Marley Newhouse, 73 of Bandera, Texas threaded her last needle and was welcomed into Heaven on March 1, 2016 after a courage battle with lengthy illness. Nancy was surrounded by her family when she was led to Heavens gate and wrapped in the Lord's quilt.\r\n \r\nNancy was born April 24, 1942 in Concord, TN. She was the youngest child of Meadie M. and Charles Marley. She grew up on a dairy farm and was the apple of her Daddy's eye. She attended Bluegrass grammar school and graduated from Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN in 1960. Nancy lived with and cared for her parents until 1971. She was married to the love of her life Roy E. Newhouse in November of 1972. They were married 4 glorious years before he passed away. Nancy moved from Tennessee to Bandera, Texas in 1978. Nancy worked as a dental assistant in Tennessee for many years before moving to Texas where she continued in the dental field. She later sold medical supplies in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Nancy was a former member of the Bandera Quilt Guild, The Little Rock Church and a loyal University of Tennessee Volunteers fan. She and Roy attended many football games and even bowl games in Hawaii wearing the bright orange Vol colors. Watching Jeopardy, playing bingo and the occasional casino were some of Nancy's many favorite pastimes. \r\n \r\nNancy did not have any children of her own, but she was always surrounded by kids. She was given the nickname "Nannan" and it stuck. If you grew up in Bandera in the 90's, I am sure you spent some time at Nannan's house. It was the gathering place after school for many kids. She always had some iced tea and snacks waiting for you. Nannan was also an avid and talented quilter and handmade countless items for family and friends. She became the go to house-sitter for many people in the Bandera area as well as other states. Every place that she house-sat had some type of pet, mainly dogs. She enjoyed watching the dogs and everyone was grateful because they knew she would make sure their pets were loved and safe. Nannan spent a lot of time in Pipe Creek with her Texas family were she enjoyed walking on the creek and searching for fossils at Hop and Reet's ranch. Nancy was a very giving person with a huge heart. She loved Christ and was devoted to her faith in the Lord. She had wonderful friends as well as loving neighbors that watched over her. She enjoyed holidays, sunsets, shopping, a good bargain and sitting outside in a swing or rocking chair. She also was a great baker and would make edible gifts for family and friends especially at Christmas time. One thing we all knew about Nannan was her love for COFFEE day or night. \r\n \r\nNannan will be forever missed by her niece Sandra Glover and nephew Richard Duisen (Kelly) both from Tennessee as well as many other family members. She also left behind her Texas family which includes Reet Campbell, her best friend and honorary sister and honorary godchildren Jake Campbell, (daughter Charlsie), Lucy and Juan Gonzales (son Harvey and daughter Hazel) and Sara Campbell and Paul Lamascus and their catahoulas, her wonderful friends Frank and Sharon Srednicki, and Frank's son Scott from North Carolina as well as so many treasured neighbors and meaningful friends in Bandera and throughout the Hill Country.\r\n \r\nShe was greeted in Heaven by her mother and father, her husband Roy E Newhouse, Sister Pat Duisen, Niece Dottie Hobbs and honorary brother and great friend Hop Campbell.\r\n\r\nA celebration of life to honor and remember Nancy will be held on April 9, 2016 at 2 PM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera.
