Monte Joe Wise, 80, passed away quietly on April 23, 2015, in Kerrville, Texas. Monte was born at home in Quitaque, Texas, on January 21, 1935, the son of Novelle Fleda (Hawkins) Wise and Jack B. Wise. After living and attending school in Quitaque, he attended Texas Tech College, earning a B. S. in Chemical Engineering. He married Bette Jo Starnes in 1955, and they had three beloved children: Johnanna, Jack Byron and Christina.\r\n \r\nMonte spent over 40 years in the nuclear engineering industry: at the GE Hanford Project in Washington State, at the LACBWR nuclear plant in Genoa, Wisconsin, and at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. He founded a consulting and personnel resource firm, Wise & Associates, Inc., from which he retired. He married (Mary) Anita Wise in 2002, and they resided in Kerrville, Texas.\r\n \r\nMonte was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jack Byron Wise, and his first wife, Bette Jo Wise. He is survived by his two daughters, Johnanna Wise Greiner and her husband Terry, of Dallas, Texas, and Christina Wise Long and her husband Frank, of San Antonio, Texas; his brother, Murray G. Wise of Clifton, Texas; his sister, Yvonne Armstrong, of Monroe, Louisiana, and his 3 grandchildren, Sara, Marissa and Claire.\r\n \r\nMonte was an active member of his church, particularly in the areas of stewardship and building projects. He traveled extensively throughout the world, both for business and pleasure. He was a lover of nature his entire life, with a keen knowledge of plants and animals of all varieties. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, including Explorer Scouting.
