Michael E. Jackson, MD, 73, of Kerrville, TX, went home to our Lord on October 21, 2018. He was born in St. Louis, MO on August 31, 1945, to Maude and Eugene Jackson. He married Rose Ellen Jackson on August 24, 2002 in Kerrville, TX.\r\n\r\nMike graduated high school in Jefferson City, MO in 1963. He then graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1967, and subsequently earned his Master's Degree in Microbiology in 1969. He was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army after graduating college. He returned to the University of Missouri in 1974 and earned his Medical Degree in 1978. He completed a Residency in Pathology at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, TX. He served in Germany before returning to BAMC to complete a fellowship in Cytopathology in 1986. After serving for fourteen years in the military, he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel, and relocated to Kerrville where he served on staff at Peterson Regional Medical Center (PRMC). He was recently recognized for 30 years of service at PRMC.\r\n\r\nMike had a love of cooking. He would happily open up his home to entertain family and friends while preparing some of his favorite dishes such as prime rib, homemade bread, Indian food, Perdanales River chili, split pea soup, creamed corn, and green beans. He also enjoyed traveling, photo1graphy, computers and electronics, and his nightly glass of Dewar's. \r\n\r\nMike is preceded in death by his parents, Maude and Eugene Jackson.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Rose Ellen Jackson, his son Lance Jackson and wife Ninette, daughter Andrea and husband Scott Stacy, and stepchildren Chastity Dunn, Faith Warman and husband Curtis, Coal Bierschwale and wife Cara, and Carl Bierschwale. He is survived by grandchildren Blake, Zachary, and Bryanna Jackson, Sierra Stacy, Gage, Albert and Chloe Briones, Juliana White, Coraline and Charlee Warman, Colby, and Carly Bierschwale, and great grandson Liam Briones.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 11:00 am with Pastor Frankie Enloe officiating. Reception will immediately follow at Comanche Trace.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to LUNGevity (longevity.org) or Peterson Hospice (250 Cully Dr., Kerrville, TX 78028). \r\n\r\nThe family of Mike Jackson wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Peterson Health, Peterson Hospice, Pathology Reference Laboratories, and his co-workers at the Peterson Laboratory, whom he thought of as family.\r\n\r\n
