Merida Tinsley

April 6, 1942 — January 2, 2023

Merida Ann Tinsley died peacefully at her home in Bandera, Texas, on January 2, 2023. She was born on April 6, 1942, to Marvin and Mildred (Farrell) Mathews in Tarrant County, Texas. Merida was the apple of her parents' eye. She grew up in Borger, Texas, in Huber Camp. She attended Borger schools, transferred to Amarillo High School in her senior year, and graduated in 1960. Merida graduated from Frank Phillips Business College in Borger. She spent her career in the oil and gas industry, working her way from secretary to land lease analyst. In 1992, she married George Tinsley in Houston, Texas. They relocated to Bandera in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. They raised longhorns and made many wonderful friends there. Merida was an avid reader and never passed up an opportunity to take in a stray animal or two over the years.

She is survived by her loving family: husband, George; son, Mark Robinson and his girlfriend, Shelia Hugo; Nathan Robinson and his girlfriend, Chelsea Jolley; Matthew Robinson and his girlfriend, Meghan Nichols, and her granddaughters, Ava and Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Mildred Mathews, Meredith "Rip" and Betty Nelon, and her grandson, Camden Cole Sisco Robinson, and ex-husband, Don Robinson. Services will be held at Christ Bible Chapel in Bandera on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11am, with Pastor David Ruark officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Christ Bible Chapel, the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, or the Cowboy Capital Pet Assistance League.

At Merida's request, her remains have been cremated.
