Meredith Wilson

June 15, 1957 — October 5, 2015

Meredith Francis Wilson passed away at the age of 58 on Monday, October 5th, 2015 in Kerrville, Texas, after a 2.5 yearlong battle with ovarian cancer.\r\n\r\nCancer did not define the final days of her life, for just as Meredith was, those years were full of love, joy and an abundance of laughter. \r\n\r\nMeredith was a teacher to some, a mother to three, a sister to many, and an inspiration to any who crossed her path. She was a lover of all living things, and possessed a benevolent nature lasting throughout her life, which was evident at an early age when she joined her family dinner table with her frog friends in her pocket, then later rescuing pugs, and always refusing to kill spiders. \r\n\r\nShe enjoyed spending time in her garden, traveling across Italy, entertaining guests, and perusing the aisles of TJ Maxx with her sisters and daughters. She had a keen eye for fashion and art, spending most of her young adult life immersed in art history, both in Houston and Italy, teaching at the Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts, and ultimately becoming the educational curator of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston. At home, If she wasn't in standing bow pose in the yoga studio, Meredith could be found enjoying a good glass of wine, singing along to Lyle Lovett while she cooked up a storm for family and friends in her kitchen. \r\n\r\nNot only was Meredith brave and resilient throughout her fight with cancer, she remained the epitome of beauty and grace, and held onto her insightful wit, cracking clever jokes up until the very end. She was the fourth child in a family of ten children, and her large family was central in her life. \r\n\r\nIn death, Meredith joins her father, Laurence Wyatt Wilson, her brother, John Ricci Wilson, and will be bringing treats to her two beloved pugs, Lucy and P Diddy. Meredith's warmth, compassion, and kindness live on in her children, Camille Zarsky-Jacobs (Sam), Bianca Vance, and Marcus Baloutine, her mother, Marianne Ricci Wilson, and her siblings, Hilary Mosty (Mark), Bridget Lee, Quentin Wilson (Kim), Germaine Casola (Mike), Allison Hailey (David), Kellen Wilson-Shely (John), Brendan Wilson (Joyce), Regan Takac (Paul), and each of her nieces and nephews. She leaves behind countless friends in Houston, Austin, Kansas City and Kerrville. Meredith was especially grateful for the support of her son's father, Jeff Baloutine. \r\n\r\nMemorial services will be held Saturday, October 24th from 1pm to 3pm at the Southside Place Clubhouse, located at 3743 Garnet Street, Houston, Texas 77005.\r\n\r\nStaying true to Meredith's giving nature, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the University of St. Thomas Art History department, online or by check to the University of St. Thomas, 3800 Montrose, Houston, TX 77006. Contact legacy@stthom.edu or 713-942-5082 for more information. \r\n\r\nMemorial donations may also be made to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank Dr. Young & staff of Peterson Hospice Care their outstanding care and support, as well as Hilltop Village for providing Meredith comfort in the final days of her life. \r\n
