Melvin Dwight Fifer, 70, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in Kerrville. He was born in Kerrville to his parents, Melvin Fifer and Hilda Abron Fifer on February 5, 1948. \r\n\r\nHe was a 1966 graduate of Tivy High School. He attended Schreiner University where he received an associate degree. He enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country. He started his career in the petroleum industry in 1974, becoming a petroleum engineer, where his career spanned for more than 45 years. He was a faithful member of Barnett Chapel United Methodist Church for many years, and worked diligently in his church and community. He worked faithfully with the Doyle Exes Association where he held the honor of being a past president.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by both parents, Melvin and Hilda Fifer.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Bennettia Evans Fifer; two daughters, Kimkae Brown of Austin, Texas and Melva Richardson of Austin, Texas; three sons, Jeffery (Tracy) of Houston, Texas, Melvin of Missouri City, Texas and Marcus of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Earnest Fifer (Julie) of Millersview, Texas; five sisters, Cheryl Fifer Leda of Dallas, Texas, Linda Fifer Jones of Houston, Texas, Kathy Fifer Riggins of Dallas, Texas, Audrey Fifer Walzer (Tony) of Dallas, Texas and Kimberly Fifer Underwood (Albert) of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be from 5pm-7pm, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville with the Rev. David L. Schuler of Austin, Texas officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memories North.
