Matthew J. Sokolowski, 81, born into eternal life Sunday, May 2, 2021 at home in Pipe Creek, Texas. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Pauline (Paniak) Sokolowski on November 17, 1939. He married the love of his life, Elaine Zemlis, on September 30, 1961 at Church of The Immaculate Conception in Chicago, Illinois. Matthew was a devoted, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a mentor and coach to many individuals in Illinois, Florida, and Texas. He was hired as the first construction painter in 1969 at Walt Disney World, then retired July, 2005. He was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, camping, and RV traveling. He most of all loved being surrounded by friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Matthew is survived by his loving wife, Elaine of 60 years; their three children: daughter, Deborah Shuford and husband Everett of North Carolina, daughter, Darlene Boalo and husband Robert of Texas and son, Joseph Sokolowski and wife Stephanie of North Carolina; grandchildren, Everett, Amber, Zachary, Kristen, and Taylor; great-grandson, Hunter; and brother, Jim Sokolowski of Phoenix, Arizona. A private family service was held. Family request donations go to the American Cancer Society.
