Mary Sue Speck, 88, of Rocksprings, Texas passed away May 14, 2019 in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in Beeville, Texas to Horace Thomas Chilton and Lear Word Chilton on May 31, 1930. The family moved to Austin, Texas where she attended elementary, junior high, and Austin high school. She majored in art four years at the University of Texas and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.\r\n\r\nShe married Fred L. Speck in 1951 and moved to the ranch near Rocksprings, Texas. She and Fred L. were married sixty years until his death in 2011. They were active in the ranching industry and were members of The Sheep and Goat Raisers' Assoc., The Mohair Council, and The International Mohair Council. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rocksprings and belonged to the Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, art, entertaining, and traveling. She was a great decorator and over the years transformed a goat shed into a wonderful house. Most of all she enjoyed family and friends.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by sons Fred L. Speck Jr. M.D. and wife Linda of Kerrville, Stuart Hal Speck of Lohn, and Scott Speck and wife Lana of San Antonio; grandchildren Fred L. Speck III M.D. of Sugar Land, Sarah Mejia and husband Richard of Kerrville, Laura Speck M.D. of Austin, Bryan Speck and wife Katherine of Houston, Will Speck of Houston, and Lindsay Speck of San Antonio, and Cole Speck of Lohn; great grandchildren Tyler and Shelby Mejia.\r\n\r\nA private family service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 on Goat Creek in Kerrville with Reverend Frankie Enloe officiating.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of ones' choice in Sue Speck's name.
