Mary Scherer

Mary Morgan Scherer, age 80 of Kerrville, Texas passed away December 28, 2014 in a local hospital. Mary was born on May 12, 1934 in Holdenville, OK to James and Irene Morgan. She married Lew Scherer in the First Baptist Church in Houston, Texas on February 12, 1955.\r\n \r\nMary attended school in Houston and at the University of Houston where she was a twirler. She stayed busy being a mother and a housewife. After purchasing a ranch in Hunt, Texas she was a bookkeeper for several different companies and retired in 1994. Mary loved to cook and entertain. Other hobbies were reading, quilting, sewing, canning and spending time with her family.\r\n \r\nMary was preceded in death by her father, James Morgan; mother, Irene Morgan; brothers, Mike and James Morgan; and an infant son, James Scherer.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by her loving husband, Lew of 59 years; sons, Lewis F. Scherer III and wife, Mari Ann, Bart Scherer and wife, Mollie; and her grandchildren, Levi Scherer and wife, Mandee, Brett Scherer and wife, Kirstin, Tyler Scherer, Carissa Scherer and Lily Scherer; great grandchildren, Conner Scherer, Colin Scherer and Jaden Scherer; sisters, Kay Carlton and husband, Dick, Colette Merchant and husband, Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom, Memaw and Old Memaw will be greatly missed by her family.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015, 10 AM at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Greg Peschel. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Mausoleum.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be give to Hill Country District Junior Livestock Association or to the Texas Lions Camp.\r\n \r\nMary's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Hilltop Village Nursing Home and Peterson Regional Medical Center for their loving care.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
