Mary Lunell Moran, 84, a longtime resident of Kerrville, Texas, passed away at a local care facility on Saturday, March 19, 2016.\r\n\r\nMary was born on January 10, 1932 on a blackland farm near Dawson, Texas to Willard and Martha Thompson. She graduated from Dawson Public School in 1950 and then married John Royce Moran on January 19, 1951. They were married for 63 years until the love of her life left to be with our Lord in 2014.\r\n\r\nJohn and Mary moved to Deer Park, Texas to raise a family. Mary was a stay-at-home Mom to her two children until she decided to attend the University of Houston and pursue a career in teaching. She and John retired in 1987 and they followed their dreams to Kerrville in 1993. They quickly found their place in the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, volunteering their time in many ways. They felt so at home with their 21st Century Sunday school class.\r\n\r\nMary loved people. She enjoyed working in the yard, playing Bridge, cooking, sewing and working crossword puzzles. She also loved watching football, baseball and especially the San Antonio Spurs. Mary hosted a group of women in her home for weekly Bible study. These women became very dear friends, continuing to meet at her assisted living facility.\r\n\r\nMary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by her daughter Debbi Jackson, her husband Danny, their three daughters; Lauren, Kerri and Caitlin, and two grandsons; her son Royce Moran, his wife Debbie, their two daughters Paige and Carly, and several nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nServices will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Kerrville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The church will host a reception following the interment. \r\n\r\nVisitation will be Monday, March 21, 2016 from 5:00-6:30 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.\r\n\r\nFuneral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
