Mary Ann (Krakos) Batchelor passed away on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at the age of 90, in Austin, Texas, with her family by her side. She was born on Jan. 2, 1925, in Moweaqua, Illinois.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents George and Lois Krakos; and husband, Bill Batchelor.\r\n\r\nShe served with the Coast Guard during World War II, where she met and married Bill, on Aug. 17, 1945. After their discharge from the Coast Guard they moved to Lyford, Texas, in 1946, later moved to Harlingen in 1965 and retired to Kerrville in 1982 where they spent 10 wonderful years together. She continued to live in Kerrville for 18 years until she moved to Austin to be closer to Robin and family in 2013.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Robin Batchelor, and son-in-law, Fred Helmerichs, grandson, Travis and great-grandson, Troy. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Stark of St.Petersburg, Florida; and brothers, Steve Krakos and wife, Adela of Harlingen, Texas, and Billy Krakos and wife, Judy of Fenton, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nMary Ann's family would like to thank Tammye and Harold Freeman, Carol Cornelison, Arleen (Morgan) Willis for many years of their love and support.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.\r\n\r\nGraveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Garden of Memories Cemetery at 3250 Fredericksburg Road, Kerrville, Texas.\r\n\r\nHonorary pallbearers are Harold Freeman, Jim Farrington and Bob Cornelision.\r\n\r\nFlowers may be sent to Grimes Funeral Chapel or memorial contributions made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
