Mrs. R.L. Mary Frances Roberts Atwell, age 101 of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 11, 1914 in Memphis, TX to W.D. and Hetty Roberts. She moved to Ft. Worth at the age of 3. She went to Paschal High School and then to TCU. She married Robert Lee Atwell on November 28, 1935. She lived in Dallas, Corpus Christi and Houston, then moved to Kerrville in 1972. \r\n \r\nMary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church. She hosted many dinners, graduation parties and wedding receptions at her home on Coronado Drive.\r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by husband of 56 years, R.L. "Bob" Atwell; son, James Frank Atwell; brother, Fowler Roberts and sister, Jodie Hewitt.\r\n \r\nSurvivors include son, Richard A. Atwell of Fredericksburg, TX; grandsons, Richard Blake Atwell and wife, Lauren of Buda, TX and David Robert Atwell of Nashville, TN; niece, Ann Schwiening and husband, Fred of Midland; nephews, Tom Hewitt and wife, Pat of San Antonio and David Roberts of Philadelphia, PA; and first cousin, Mrs. Frances Hawkins of Dallas.\r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015, 11 AM at Garden of Memories Cemetery officiated by Dr. Bill Blackburn.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.\r\n\r\nWe would like to thank these ladies, Lorene Ellebracht, Barbara Richardson, Judy Beaver, Wanitha Tucker and Mandy Tennery whose care and dedication to Mom helped make the last years of her life so much more comfortable and grounded.
