Marvin Craig, age 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed peacefully from this life at his residence in Kerrville, Texas to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 26, 2014. His loving wife, Frances, his son, Bryan, and his twin brother, Marsell Craig, were at his bedside.\r\n \r\nBorn on April 6, 1938 in Elgin, Texas, he was the son of Edna Craig and Marsell Craig. He married Frances Ross on December 24, 1978 in Kerrville, Texas, on her birthday.\r\n \r\nMarvin had a strong Christian faith and loved the Lord with all his heart. He loved to attend church and loved gospel music. He also loved to attend bluegrass gospel concerts, of which he and Frances went to many across the country. At one time in his life, he played the fiddle. He had a great sense of humor and loved company. He had a heart as big as Texas and always wanted to help those in need. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. Marvin had a great love for his children, grandchildren, family and friends.\r\n \r\nHe was a plain man, a simple man. He loved to eat - one of his favorites was Elgin Sausage from Elgin, Texas. He was always asking his brother, Marsell, or his sister, Jo Ann, when they would visit, "Did you bring me any Elgin Sausage?" He also loved to go to Mamacita's, his favorite place. He loved NASCAR races and motorcycles. He and his wife loved to travel and had visited many places. One of the highlights of his life was when they were able to go on a cruise to The Bahamas and to Jamaica.\r\n \r\nMarvin went to school in Elgin, Texas. He worked as a truck driver for 49 years. The last 15 years of his driving career was for Reynolds Nationwide in San Antonio, Texas. He also drove for J.B. Hunt and Cal Ark Trucking in Arkansas. He traveled 47 states and Canada. For many years, his wife traveled with him. He lived in Texas most of his life, except for a period of time, they lived in Kentucky.\r\n \r\nMarvin was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Craig; his dad, Marsell Craig; two brothers, Curtis Craig and Charles Craig; and a son, Randy Love.\r\n \r\nThose left to honor and cherish him are his loving wife of nearly 36 years, Frances; children: Bryan Craig of Kerrville, Les Craig (Ivena) of Valley Mills, Texas, Marsell Craig (Rebecca) of Austin, Texas, Cristy Resendez (Eddie) of Austin, Texas, and Robert Love (Vickie) of Kerrville; his twin brother, Marsell Craig (Connie) of Jarell, Texas; sister, Jo Ann Wilson (Jack) of Elgin, Texas; brothers in law, Vernon Smith (Cookie) of Mesa, Arizona and Kenny Ross (Carol) of Marion, Texas; sister in law, Vickie Williams of Marion, Texas; adopted daughters, Chalona Radtke of Canyon Lake, Texas, Petro Von Kornatzki of Munich, Germany and Carol Taylor of Vanceboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Zoe and Zach Craig, Josh and Jordan Craig, Gaby and Jose Resendez, Jason and Renee Love, and Ty Radtke; one great grandbaby, Madeline Resendez; and also his little church children that he loved so dearly and that loved him very much. He was "Grandpa" to all of them. He is also survived by many friends and his beloved pets, Suki and Whiskers, which he adored.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nA Celebration of Marvin's life will be held 1 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Charles Burgin and Rev. Mark Green. Interment will follow at Nichols Cemetery.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Bryan Craig, Ty Radtke, Jason Love, Tim Craig, Mile Balch and Jose Resendez.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
