Marjorie Salyers

May 21, 1960 — November 6, 2018

Margie Salyers passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2018. It was quite a shock to all of us who loved her. She was born on May 21, 1960, to Henry Johnston and Mary Ella Badge Johnston in Brazoria, Texas. She was named for her beloved grandmother, Marjorie Badge. Margie graduated from West Columbia High School, and then went on to Sam Houston State College. Margie continues to have many friends that she made from her high school and college days - like Mildred, Julie, Karen, Clara, and many others. It must have been with them that she learned how to be a good friend because Margie made friends wherever she went.\r\n\r\nShe married Alfred "Duke" Haseloff, Jr., and their son Dustin Lane Haseloff was born on April 12, 1986. Things didn't work out between Margie and Duke, but they are both grateful for their son Dustin.\r\n\r\nMargie met the love of her life Bobby Salyers in 1993, and they married on December 30 of that year. Everyone hopes that they will meet their soulmate; and for these two, they did. Bobby adored Margie, and she loved him. Bobby has two children, Colleen and Hunter, from his first marriage; and the two of them created a real blended family. It wasn't always easy; but Margie and Bobby worked hard to make it happen and it did.\r\n\r\nMargie was a wonderful cook, and a woman who knew how to throw a party and how to make everyone feel welcome and included. At Christmas, if you needed a place to go for dinner, you could bet that Margie would invite you to come up and join the family. She sent plates of her delicious meals to those who had to work or couldn't make it.\r\n\r\nMargie and Bobby loved to travel and experience new places together, especially to Belize. That was their home away from home. They usually traveled there several times a year.\r\n\r\nMargie was so happy when Dustin married Bianca Lopez. She often said that she couldn't ask for a better daughter-in-law and often referred to her as her daughter-in-love. Bianca felt the same way. Margie was her mother-in-love and also her friend.\r\n\r\nMargie was a superstar at being a grandmother - as you would expect. She is Noni to Dustin's children - Giuliana, and Cullen Haseloff; Colleen's children - Maelynn and Riley Haley; and Hunter's son - Caleb Salyers.\r\n\r\nMargie is survived by her best friend and soulmate, Bobby Salyers; her son Dustin Haseloff and his wife Bianca and their children Giuliana and Cullen; Colleen Salyers Haley and her husband Sean and their children Maelynn and Riley; and Hunter Salyers and his wife Gabby and Hunter's son Caleb. She is also survived by her cousins George, Frank, and Christopher Eldridge and their families; the Salyers/Mireur family; and many, many friends - those in Bandera like Karen, Therese, Athena, and the rest; and all over Texas and the country.\r\n\r\nMargie loved life and lived it to the fullest. We love her and shall miss her greatly. It's going to be very hard, but we know Margie is going to help all of us meet her challenge to leave everything on the field.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a contribution to a charity of your choice in her name.\r\n\r\nA Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Courtney Mountain Ranch on the Medina River.
