Marjorie Emerson Koon Leisering passed from this blessed life on Sunday, December 24, 2017.\r\n Born March 11, 1920 in Jefferson, Texas to John Etheridge and Evelyn Koon, she soon moved to her beloved town of Kerrville where she and little sis, Dorothy, entered school and danced their way through Tivy High!!! Graduating in 1940, she was very active on Antler Staff, a member of the Antlerette Pep Squad, and was voted to be in the Royal Court. One of her most enjoyable experiences was singing in the Tivy Sextet! Quoting from the "Senior Personalities" section of the Kerrville Times, "The thing which appeals most to Marjorie is… "getting out of high school the easiest and quickest way!"\r\n \r\nNever missing any opportunity to socialize, she began dating the love of her life, Julius Leisering, a Kerrville native and student at the University of Texas. They married in 1940 at the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville. Julius became a successful businessman in Dallas where Marge devoted her life to being a doting wife and loving mother to their son, Mark Julius Leisering. During her 40 years in Dallas, she kept very busy caring for her family, volunteering at the Westminister Presbyterian Church, and playing golf at the Country Club where she even won a trophy for top women's golfer!\r\n \r\nOver the years, she made many friends who became her adopted family! She often reminded us that her greatest blessing in this life was being married to Julius for 67 years and raising her son, Mark, both of whom she missed so much after their passing! She truly never met a stranger and had a loving and caring spirit toward her fellow man. She lived by the "Golden Rule!" \r\n \r\nIn the 80's, she and Julius retired and moved home to Kerrville where they happily lived for over 25 years. They enjoyed volunteering at the church and interacting with their life-long friends! She will be missed by us here, but will be so joyous to join her many, many loved ones who have entered the Kingdom of God before her! That IS her greatest achievement!\r\n \r\nThe family wants to thank those that took time out of their busy lives to visit and care for Marge! She loved each and every one of you with all her heart! \r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 4-6 PM, Monday, January 1, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Rob Lohmeyer. Burial will precede the service at 10 AM at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n
