Mario Brieno Chavez, III

Mario Brieno Chavez III of Bandera Tx passed away at the age of 71 at his home in Pipe Creek, Tx on Monday March 10, 2025.

He was born in San Antonio Texas to Mario Chavez Jr. and Maria Alicia Chavez on April 29th, 1953.

Mario was cherished by all those around him and leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and devotion.

He was a veteran of the air force and coast guard, a brother mason of the Masonic Lodge of Bandera Tx, was a cowboy and a true horseman at heart.

In 1990 he met his wife Valerie Corpus-Chavez, and they married in 2001.

They spent 35 years together, always doing for others.

Mario is survived by his children daughter Elizabeth Chavez Phillips and husband Ashely Phillips III, Son Gregory Chavez and wife Teressa Chavez, Son Matthew Chavez, grandchildren Bradyn, Aidan, and Avery.

He had many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, countless family members, friends, and horses whose lives he touched in a positive way.

Visitation will be held March 26th, 2025, at Bandera Funeral Chapel 10:00am-1:00pm.

Following the Procession, Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera Texas.

He will be buried with full military honors on March 27th, 2025, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery @ 1:45pm
