Marilyn Sue Hopenwasser, 68, of Bandera, TX, passed away on March 19th in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Lakewood, CA to T.A. Smith and Mary Sue Flowers on February 25, 1955. She married Fredrick John Hopenwasser on February 14, 2004 in Montgomery, TX.
Marilyn went to school in Lakewood, CA. She graduated from Long Beach State University with a degree in nursing. Marilyn worked as a registered nurse for various physician offices in California for approximately eleven years. She was involved with the youth group at the Lord of Life Luthern church in The Woodlands, TX. Marilyn was an avid gardener and would always find her in her garden.
Marilyn is preceded in death by mother Mary Sue Flowers, father T.A. Smith, and nephew Joshua Smith.
Marilyn is survived by husband Fredrick John Hopenwasser, Mama Nair Smith, siblings Paul and Tilden Smith, children Sara and Brandon Crow, Matthew Smith, Jay and Carissa Hopenwasser, Brett Hopenwasser, Dawn Hopenwasser, and grandchildren Brandon Desanti, Charles Hopenwasser, Easton Crow, and Emelia Crow.
A Memorial service will be held at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel at 2pm on Saturday, May 6th and presided by Pastor Stephen Adams from Parkview Baptist Church in Waco, TX.
Memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation, American Cancer Society, and Alzheimer's Association. The family of Marilyn Sue Hopenwasser wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the Methodist hospital in San Antonio, TX and the team of doctors that have aided her
in recent years.
