Marian Thomas

Marian Florene Thomas, age 75 of Kerrville, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at her residence. She was born April 5, 1945 in Deer River, Minnesota to Floyd Dorman and Lucille Costello. \r\n\r\nShe met the love of her life David Allen Thomas in Elk River, Minnesota in the early 1960's. They wed on June 22, 1963. From there, their adventures led them to Alaska, Washington and Texas. They started a family in 1964 that continued to grow and grow. Marian was the mother of six children along with a few "stragglers" who claimed her as their own. She was a strong, hardworking lady. A professional mother and protector. The kind of woman who would gladly wrestle a grizzly bear for one of her children and come out unscathed, yet run away screaming if a grasshopper landed near her. She was clever, quick witted and only a tiny bit sarcastic. She kept her sense of humor even during her last days. Most interactions with her resulted in laughing until your belly hurt, but in a single glance we knew she meant serious business as she had perfected her own "mom look." We would like to say that she was one of a kind, except she has six kids who are just like her in many ways. Throughout the years she was given the nickname "Big Mare"... definitely not because of her size, but because of her character. \r\n\r\nMom, Wife, Big Mare, this 3 Musketeer is for you! Our love for you is deep and endless. Our comfort is in knowing you are reunited with your son and daughter.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by daughter, Leilanie Thomas and son, Terry Thomas.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her husband, David Thomas of Kerrville; daughters, Corrinna Walter (Steve) of North Bend, Washington, Gillian Thomas of Kerrville and Kasey Nelms (Charles) of Portland, Texas; son, Schylur Thomas (Patti) of Ingram; grandchildren, Sundae Oakes (Trey) of San Marcos, Noel Walter (Wade) of Wenatchee, Washington, Cheyenne Thomas of Kerrville, Rory Walter of Anderson Island, Washington, Cam Fetters of Kerrville and C.J. Hernandez of Portland, Texas; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Barrett Casias and McCoy and Callahan Jordan.\r\n\r\nPer her request, no services will be held.
