Maria Sylvia Mendietta Saldana, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018, in San Antonio. She was born on June 23, 1959, in Kingsville, TX, to Israel G. and Sarita Zamora Mendietta. \r\n \r\nSylvia thoroughly enjoyed and loved her 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Family was always a priority to her. She enjoyed spending a large amount of time with her children and was always there cheering them on in their sporting events. Sylvia cherished and treasured every moment spent with her 3 granddaughters. Her granddaughters were the apple of her eye and she was a very proud mother and grandmother. \r\n \r\nSylvia graduated from Kingsville High School and attended Bee County College. On January 21, 1978, Sylvia married the love of her life, Ramiro A. Saldana in Kingsville. Upon her completion of college, they moved to a small farm in Mountain Home, Texas. Ramiro was a ranch foreman which he loved doing for many years. Sylvia worked at the ranch as a housekeeper for more than 20 years. Sylvia and her family owned several dogs over the years. Sylvia and her children enjoyed swimming, fishing, and playing sports. \r\n \r\nSylvia had a love for life, and she enjoyed every moment spent with her beloved family.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by her husband, Ramiro A. Saldana of Kerrville; parents, Israel and Sarita Mendietta of Ricardo, TX; daughter, Sarah Michelle Saldana of Kerrville; sons, Ramiro Saldana, Jr. and wife Katherine of Van Vleck, TX, and Jaime Saldana of Kerrville; sisters, Norma M. Escobedo and husband Carlos of Kerrville, and Dolly Mendietta and Eloy Castillo of Ricardo; brother, Israel Mendietta, Jr. and wife Linda of Ricardo; grandchildren, Zoe Saldana, Kiley Faith Saldana, and Kallie Grace Saldana; and numerous nieces and nephews. \r\n \r\nA Rosary and memorial service will begin on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 3:30 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.\r\n
