Margaret Faith Shirey Moorman (Dute), age 96, of LaPorte, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2019. She was born on January 4, 1923, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Throughout the years, she lived in numerous places including cities in California and in LaPorte, Texas before retiring to Kerrville, Texas.\r\n\r\nMargaret was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Taylor (Scoop) Moorman; her parents, George and Lovell Shirey; brothers, George, Robert, and William Shirey; her sister, Mildred Shirey Newman Lorenzen; her great-granddaughter, Kierstyn VanDyke; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Moorman.\r\n\r\nThose who continue to celebrate her life through memories are her brother, James Shirey and wife Judi of South Lake, TX; her sister-in-law, Shirley Shirey of Estes Park, CO; her son, John Moorman and wife Daisy Franklin of Round Rock, TX; her daughter, Jeannine VanDyke and husband George Van Dyke of La Porte, TX; her grandchildren, Katherine Lamers and husband Ian Lamers of Minneapolis, MN, Kristine VanDyke of Webster, TX, and George (Trey) VanDyke III of West Sacramento, CA; her great-grandchildren, Kaytlin VanDyke, Cela and Django Lamers; and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nMargaret lived a wonderful life full of many varied experiences, travels, close family and strong faith. She was a strong woman that inspired many, and will be remembered for her optimistic outlook on life and ability to laugh with loved ones and those close to her. She enjoyed spending time with family, socializing with friends, dancing with her husband to Post World War II tunes, playing Bridge, playing Bingo, and Painting. She volunteered at the Hill Country Youth Ranch as a member and spent countless hours working as a manager of their Thrift Store. She was active in the local Republican Party. She served as a precinct judge, a state convention delegate and volunteered during many elections. Margaret was a member of the Christian Women's Club in Kerrville and an active church member.\r\n\r\nMargaret will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. She will be remembered and honored by her many family and friends.\r\n\r\n
