Marcia Manhart, 77, former Executive Director of Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away March 18, 2020 in her adopted home of Fredericksburg, Texas.\r\n\r\nMarcia Kay Yockey was raised in Wichita, Kansas by Everett and Ruth Yockey. She studied art at the University of Tulsa, where she met and married ceramic artist Tom Manhart, with whom she raised daughters Mandy and Emily.\r\n \r\nMarcia's professional career began in 1968 at The Philbrook Museum of Art and coincided with the institution's growth and development into a nationally significant art museum. As Executive Director she oversaw a major expansion of the museum's exhibition, curatorial and administrative space and oversaw the restoration of the Villa's formal gardens. With Tom Manhart she co-curated the nationally renowned craft exhibition The Eloquent Object. Upon her retirement, Marcia settled in Fredericksburg to pursue her many interests, which included gourmet cooking, travel and art. She also served on the Fredericksburg Historical Society Board and The Board of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church where she was also a member of The Daughters of the King.\r\n\r\nMarcia was preceded in death by parents Everett Wayne Yockey and Ruth Correll Yockey, brother Kent Lloyd Yockey, and former husband Thomas Arthur Manhart. She is survived by daughters Caroline Manhart Sanderson (George), Emily Alexandrea Dirickson (Steven), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Philbrook Museum of Art, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, Texas, or the charity of your choice.
