Judge Lynn DeLane Holt

Judge Lynn DeLane Holt, 77, of Bandera, Texas, passed away suddenly at his residence on December 5, 2024 in Bandera, Texas. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Lynn was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to David and Darlene Holt on February 14, 1947. He married Louetta Perry on August 3, 1968 in Ft. Worth, Texas.

He went to school in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He served as a Justice of Peace, Precinct 4, for Bandera County for 20 years. He served as a helicopter pilot in the Army and achieved the rank of Captain during the Vietnam war. Lynn and Louetta moved to Tarpley in October of 1980 when they purchased the Tarpley General Store. They ran the restaurant/store until it closed in 1995. Lynn served as a deputy sheriff, investigator for the Bexar County District Attorney’s office, Bandera’s Chief of Police, and had a construction business until he was appointed as Justice of Peace, Precinct 4, for Bandera County.

He was a member of the Tarpley Baptist Church, Bandera Masonic Lodge, the Justice of Peace and Constable Association, and the Texas Justice Court Judges Association of which he had served on their Board of Directors and had been involved with the education and legislative committees. He had been named to the College of Justice Court Judges for over 16 consecutive years and was awarded Judge of the Year by the Justice Court Judges Association in 2016.

Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, David and Darlene Holt, his brothers, Donn Holt and David McPherson, and grandson, Tristan Seay.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Louetta; children, Delania (Cliff) Honiker and Perry (Summer) Holt; grandchildren, Nicolette (Jeff) Dewsbury, Tori (Trey) Walker, Isabella Seay, Benjamin Honiker, Carolyn Holt, Lilly Holt, Samuel Holt, and Hannah Holt; great-grandchildren, Alexander Dewsbury, Margaret Dewsbury, Eli Gonzales, and Maverick Walker; niece and nephew, Cindy (Jon Ed) Brown and Ryan (Holly) McPherson and their families. His memory will be cherished by the Perry family on his wife’s side.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2024 at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., December 14, 2024, at the Tarpley Baptist Church, Tarpley, Texas with Pastor Garrett Smith of the Tarpley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Tarpley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be brethren of the Bandera Masonic Lodge.

Memorials may be given to Tarpley Baptist Church or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. The family of Lynn wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Bandera EMS for their services.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel.
