Lula Bransford Santa Maria went home to her Lord on March 19, 2016 in the embrace of her loving and grateful children in the home of her daughter in Hutto, Texas. She was born in Texas City, Texas on September 19, 1920. She met her best friend and love, Lee Santa Maria in Houston, Texas where they were married on July 29, 1939. \r\n \r\nToots, as Lee called her, and Lee raised their children in Houston on Lee's family farm. They were active members of Saint Anne Catholic Church where the children went to school. Lula was the church office secretary for many years which filled her with joy as she served her church community. In 1979 Lula and Lee moved to Kerrville, Texas where they were members of Notre Dame Catholic Church for the next 37 years. Lula was an active member of Women of Notre Dame, The Bereavement Support Group, Women's auxiliary of the Father Kemp Knights of Columbus, and an active supporter and volunteer at Rafael Clinic. She was devoted to her family and loved to tell stories and laugh with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the beach, flowers and watching her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. She was open minded and smart. Her compassion was inspired by knowing that "There but for the grace of God go I" and she instilled this value in her family. She was a wise, forgiving and loving spouse, mother, grandmother and friend. \r\n \r\nLula has joined her husband Lee of 63 years, her mother Linnie Bransford, her granddaughter Angela, her brother Chester and sister Margie. \r\n \r\nShe is survived by her brother Charlie and wife Janet, Chris Bransford her sister in law, and children Carolyn and Husband Kent Herrick, Theresa (Tracey) and husband Larry Peoples, Mary and husband Fern Duvall, Fred and wife Karen Santa Maria and Margie and husband Tommie Hartmann. Her grandchildren are Danny Peoples and wife Stefanie, Andrew Peoples and wife Paula, Michelle and husband John Patterson, Jonathon and Nick Peoples, Kris Herrick and wife Gosia, Katy Herrick, Audra McFadden, Cara Santa Maria, Sara and husband Jerry Martin, Kelsey and husband Eric Charron, Caroline and husband Miquel Garcia, Madeline and husband James Vaughn, David Santa Maria, Ricky Santa Maria and Brian Santa Maria. She was GiGi (Great Grandma) to Miller and Creed Peoples, Carson Peoples, Sophie and Lily Herrick, Kaylee Hinkle and Addison Martin. She also leaves nieces and nephews. \r\n \r\nPallbearers will be the grandsons. \r\n \r\nThe Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, with visitation beginning at 5. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville. There will be a reception following. \r\n \r\nThe family ask that Lula's life be celebrated with memorials to the charitable cause of your choice. They suggest The Knights of Columbus.\r\n
