Many spiritual blessings were derived from our father, uncle, grandfather, friend and neighbor, Loy S. House, who carried out his mission for the Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2016 and completed his earthly journey. Our hearts, along with countless others across the world are encouraged by the legacy and example set every day of his life. He was a humble, sweet-spirited man of God who exuded the love of Christ to everyone he met. He was especially passionate about his family and good friends, sharing the Gospel, and mentoring young people. \r\n \r\nHe was born July 12, 1910 in Glass, Texas, Sommerville County, to William M. House and Veda A. House. His mother's family, the Gatewoods from Glen Rose, Texas, host an Annual Gatewood Reunion which he loved attending. He graduated from Cleburne High School, where he met his precious wife Tressie, then attended Texas Tech University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a co-associate with long time businessman and friend Lewis A. Evans, founder of Evans Foodway of Kerrville and remained with the company until it was sold. He continued active employment in the engineering department at the Veterans Medical Center in Kerrville and retired in 1972. Mr. House continued to be active and excelled as an athlete and was an outstanding swimmer and diver. He enjoyed biking, hiking and walking. He was a gold medalist in the Senior Olympics games in which he and his wife both competed.\r\n \r\nOne of his defining associations was his love for his family and church family. He was a faithful member for over 49 years, serving as deacon and Sunday School teacher and in 2005 was named Deacon Emeritus.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil House, J.L. House and an infant brother. His loving wife of 50 years, Tressie Lynn, died January 7, 1992. \r\n \r\nSurvivors are son, Elvin House and wife Cora and daughter, Loyette Schott and husband, Homer Schott, all of San Antonio; grandsons, Anthony Schott and Bill Schott; granddaughters, Meghan Loy House and Charis Meier and husband Adam; great grandchildren, Gwyndolyn, Logan and Havilah. Other great grandchildren are Reagan Schott, Heather Denton, Preston and Parker Weaver. A niece, Ginny Taylor and nephew, Butch House, as well as numerous others, also survive.\r\n \r\nFamily visitation for Mr. House will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 am. Interment services with full military honors is set for Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 2 PM at Ft.
