Lowell H. Schiefen, 84, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 from a brief illness. He was born in Le Mars, Iowa to Francis and Christine Schiefen on October 19, 1931. He married Sharon Camarigg, the love of his life, on December 16, 1977 in Sioux City, Iowa.\r\n \r\nHe grew up in Le Mars and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He worked as an Electrician for Iowa Public Service/Mid America Energy for 30 years, was a proud veteran of the Korean War and went on to achieve the rank of Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserve. He was airman of the year twice in the Iowa Air National Guard prior to his service at Offutt AFB in Omaha. Lowell had a life-long passion for flying and aviation. \r\n \r\nHe was long-time member of Notre Dame Church and an ACTS member. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and spent his spare time volunteering for Ave Marie Hospice and St. Vincent De Paul.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon. He is survived by his children, Kathy, Dan, Gail, Dennis, Lisa, Jeff and Mike; sisters, Eunice, Veronica, Kathleen and Cynthia; and brother, Virgil. He has 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.\r\n \r\nViewing will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville from 1-3pm on Tuesday, February 9th with a memorial service following from 4-6 at the Take-It-Easy RV Resort, also in Kerrville. Funeral services will be held in Le Mars, Iowa at St. Joseph Church on Saturday, February 13th at 11 AM. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa.
