Lois Charlene Knox, 82 of Kerrville, TX, passed away on May 4, 2015 in Kerrville. She was born in Mountain Grove, MO to Andrew and Dove Lawson on July 3, 1932. She married Ben W. Alpuerto on May 9, 1953 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO.\r\n \r\nShe went to school and graduated from Houston High School in Houston, MO. She entered the University of Nebraska, and went to college briefly, but left college to raise her family. Charlene was beautiful, witty, smart, and owned a successful real estate company on Oahu, HI. She later divorced and moved to Mountain Grove, MO because she wanted to be closer to her family. She met and married John H. Knox. They built together a successful grade A dairy farm, all while raising 6 children. They later moved to Kerrville, where Charlene worked in real estate. She and John later purchased and operated a sub sandwich shop for many years.\r\n \r\nCharlene is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Dove Lawson; sisters, Neita Sagik, Ila Virtue, Linda Carrigan and Velma Knox; brothers, Gerald, Harold and Huey Lawson; husbands, Ben W. Alpuerto and John H. Knox and son, Dennis Alpuerto.\r\n \r\nCharlene is survived by daughters, Marla Redmon, Sarah Gonzales and Charity Traub and husband, Cip; sons, Bruce Alpuerto, Eric Alpuerto and wife, Ching; brothers, Tom Lawson and wife, Meg, Chuck Lawson and wife, Dorothy, and Ben Lawson; grandchildren, Justin Garcia, Bryan Gonzales, Grant Traub, Rachael Bigham, Andrew Alpuerto, Shyla Alpuerto, Philip Alpuerto, Amy Oates, Josh Alpuerto, Lance Alpuerto, Jake Alpuerto and Andrea Holden; great grandchildren, Alex Holden, Jillyanna and Coralyn Oates, Braxton and Lilah Bigham, Tripp Alpuerto; and many nieces, nephews and friends who are all close to her heart.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 5-7 PM on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Graveside services will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Justin Garcia, Bryan Gonzales, Andrew and Philip Alpuerto, Josh, Lance and Jake Alpuerto.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given to the COPD Foundation. \r\n \r\nThe family of Charlene wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all those that have helped in any way, to help us get through this difficult time.
