Lois Mae Dishong, 99 years young, went home to be with her Lord on November 29, 2019 at her home in Ingram, Texas. She was born May 19, 1920 in Long Beach, California to Obed and Florence Godard.\r\n\r\nLois graduated from Polytechnic High School in Long Beach and attended Bethany Bible College until she decided to enlist in the Women's Army Corps during WWII as that is "where all the boys were." \r\n\r\nHospitalized in Florida with the German measles is where she met this handsome young Cpl. Donald Dishong who had stopped in to visit her. They fell in love and were married while still serving. Upon discharge, they went to Long Beach, California where they trained for the Ministry. Both become Ordained Ministers and pastored in Washington and Oregon for the next 30 years.\r\n\r\nShe went to live with her daughter, Delores, in Salem, Oregon upon the passing of her husband in 2009. In 2016, she and Delores moved to Ingram to be closer to her other daughter, Kathryn. She was a faithful attendee at Calvary Temple Church. \r\n\r\nLois was one to always be busy and not let "grass grow" under her feet, serving alongside her husband as well as being a housewife. She was a positive, upbeat lady and would say "why worry when you can pray." Never judgmental, she loved entertaining people in their home and was always there for her family.\r\n\r\nBy example, Mom instilled in us integrity, courage, devotion and not to give up. She loved her flower gardens and her talent of playing many musical instruments made us marvel and appreciate music. \r\n\r\nAfter retiring in 1985, she became an avid Seattle Mariners fan. Having been taught to keep team stats by her dad, she kept them for each game through the end of the 2019 season.\r\n\r\nLois was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years and her sister, Marian Walburn. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughters, Delores Dishong and Kathryn Ramsey (Santford) of Ingram; grandson, Monty Brown Jr. (Kassandra) and two great-grands, Kailia and Hughton Brown of Medford, Oregon; and granddaughter, Monica Bolinger (Rich) of Ingram.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be at Grimes Funeral Chapels Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 4:00 till 6:00 PM.\r\n\r\nInterment will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 10:45 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of floral contributions, the family requests that memorial donations be made to your favorite charity.\r\n
