Ms. Lois (Mamaw) Irene Rhoades McHaney Abbott was born June 8, 1934 in Morgan County, Indiana to Bert Rhoades and Ellen Warriner Rhoades. She graduated from Mooresville, Indiana High School in 1952, and has called the Texas Hill Country home since January of 1953. Her love for her many rescue dogs was only surpassed by her love for her children and grandchildren. \r\n\r\n\r\nAfter retiring from her career in bookkeeping in 2009, she devoted her time to her family, animals, and gardening. She peacefully departed this life at 1:38am October 3, 2017 surrounded by her children and grandchildren in Kerrville, TX. Her family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital and Grimes Family Funeral Home for their loving care of our dear Mamaw. \r\n\r\nMamaw is survived by children Casey Beakley, Jack and Diane McHaney, Randy McClammy; step-children Sherry Abbott, Linda Mitchell, Jeff Abbott, and Connie Pritchard; grandchildren Brooke and Bo, Brittin, Tyler, Rachel, Caleb, Averie, Kelsey, and Jack; great-grandchildren, Mica, Mac, Tatum, Maci, Reid, Mackoy, and Savannah; Corky and Virgie McHaney and sister Lillian (Dinkie) Stewart. Along with countless cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. \r\n\r\nShe is preceded in death by her parents; brothers James, Richard (Dick), and Donald and Jane (sister-in-law) Rhoades; sisters Mildred Goines and Rosie Crail. \r\n\r\nMamaw will be remembered for her generous heart, compassion, zest for life, love for her family and friends, contagious laughter and her never-ending devotion to the San Antonio Spurs. In honor of her fondness for Ray Price the family would like to thank you, Mamaw, "for the good times."\r\n\r\nThere will be a private memorial held at a later date.
