Lindsay Allan Duff, 83, died peacefully on Saturday December 20, 2014 at home in Kerrville, Texas. Lindsay was born in Harvey, Illinois to Henry Lindsay Duff and Selma Brueggemann Duff on July 8, 1931. He married Lucille M. Grawburg on January 30, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. \r\n\r\nA longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, Lindsay attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a 17-year-old in Blue Island, Illinois. He fondly remembered his days of scouting including traveling on a merchant ship in 1947 to France to attend the 6th World Scout Jamboree, the first to be held after World War II near Paris. \r\n\r\nHe attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania for 2 years then transferred to the University of Michigan where he received a BBA in 1953 and a MBA in 1954. Lindsay was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. In the summer of 1953, Lindsay, along with his brother Don and friend Rob Carlson biked around Europe. \r\n\r\nLindsay joined the accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1954. His professional career was interrupted when he was drafted and served 2 years in the U.S. Army Audit Agency. He started in the Chicago office of Arthur Andersen and later transferred to Caracas, Venezuela in 1959 as the first American assigned to that office. He became a partner in 1965 then later the Caracas office's managing partner until 1974. From 1974 until 1978, he managed the San Juan, Puerto Rico office before moving to Mexico City for 9 years where he acted as senior partner for Mexico and Central America before completing his career. In 1987 Lindsay and Lucy moved back to the United States to Kerrville to begin a new chapter in retirement. He then developed a personal interest in real estate investments and established a real estate management firm, L. Duff Enterprises, Inc.\r\n\r\nHe was involved in numerous civic organizations and groups both overseas and locally. He was a member of the Kerrville Noon Rotary for 20 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a commissioner on the Kerrville Planning and Zoning Commission for 7 years, a member of the Economic Improvement Corporation and a member of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church. \r\n\r\nLindsay and Lucy had many adventures and travels while living overseas in Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Moving to Caracas in 1959 with short notice and minimal Spanish skills was a big change from life in Chicago. The challenges during those early years turned into exciting and fun times for the whole family. They grew to love living abroad, enjoying life as American "expats". \r\n\r\nLindsay was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was generous, caring and hard working. He enjoyed trying out new technologies, bringing personal computers to the work place in Mexico City in the 1980's. Some of his other interests included Pre-Columbian art, rare coins and financial investments. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife Lucy of almost 61 years, his son Mark and wife Beth Duff of San Antonio and daughter Sara McKeon and husband Tom of Kerrville, and four grandchildren - Alan and Michael Duff and Kevin and Kelly McKeon.
