Linda Jo McGhee, 66, of Pipe Creek, was called home by the Lord on February 20, 2015. Linda was born on December 9, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN to Donald and Bernadine Detjen. She married Mac McGhee on September 1, 1979 in Lake Tahoe, NV. \r\n\r\nLinda worked for the Minnesota Twins baseball team in the early 1970's then moved to San Antonio to begin a successful career at USAA - where she met her husband, Mac. After USAA, Linda taught Jazzercise and then settled into her life's calling of being a full-time homemaker, mother and teacher. Linda and Mac were foster parents to more than 20 children, ultimately adopting four to add to the two children Mac already had. By 1985, their house was out of room, so they had to quit fostering.\r\n\r\nLinda has served her church, Hill Country Chapel, and Mt. Zion Christian Mission in many capacities since 1981. Most of these involved teaching children, which Linda found so fulfilling. And, it gave her the opportunity to touch a great many lives.\r\n\r\nLinda is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Dennis Detjen. She is survived by her loving husband, Mac; children, Stacy McGhee Clayton (husband Randy), Steven John McGhee (wife Christine), Paul Michael McGhee, Christopher James McGhee (wife Meredith), Adam Emanuel McGhee, and Sarah Kathleen McGhee; sister, Kathleen Detjen Brothen (husband Robert). Linda was blessed with nine grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly - Spencer and Tristan Clayton; Luke, Kara and Elise McGhee; Christopher McGhee; Celsey McGhee; and Casen and Cenlan McGehee. \r\n\r\nA memorial celebration of Linda's life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Hill Country Chapel, 886 Mountain View Lane, Pipe Creek. Pastor Skip Marks will officiate. Interment will follow at the Pipe Creek Cemetery. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Linda's favorite charity, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
