Linda King, 72, died at her residence on August 14, 2020, after a courageous two-and-a-half-year bout with cancer in Kerrville, Texas. Her husband, Lew, was with her.\r\n\r\nA graveside service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020. A "Celebration of Life" service will be held in the worship center at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville, Texas, on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.\r\n\r\nLinda was born in Houston, Texas, on February 8, 1948. Her father, Wayne Armour, was a World War II Marine veteran and worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston. Her mother, Lola Armour, was a homemaker who passed on her gift of singing to their four children.\r\n\r\nLinda grew up singing in school and church and qualified for a Texas All-Region Choir while in high school. She also sang in the "Templeaires," a girls' quartet that won a Youth for Christ talent contest in Houston and competed in the National YFC Talent Contest in Winona Lake, IN.\r\n\r\nHer future husband, Lew, crossed her path in 1964 when he became the organist at her church; four years later they were married. \r\n\r\nShe took an active part in her husband's music ministry in Baptist churches in Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Mexico, singing in choirs and ensembles, singing solos, and directing children's choirs. She also enjoyed playing handbells.\r\n\r\nBesides being a homemaker, her interests included women's Bible studies, word puzzles, and church music activities. She was noted for her sweet spirit and personality, her gift of listening, her warm friendly voice on the telephone, her witty one-liners, and her beautiful smile.\r\n\r\nShe is survived by her husband of fifty-two years Lew King; son Landon King, daughter Leanne King, and daughter Laurel Thies, her husband Burkhard, and their daughters Lorien, Henley, and Willamina; her mother, Lola Davis of Kerrville; sister Lynne Armour, sister Lanie Ebelt and her husband Bruce, all of Kerrville; brother John Armour and his wife Lezlie, of Houston; eight nephews and two nieces.\r\n\r\nArrangements are with Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.\r\n
