L.F. Cox Jr., born on June 27, 1939 in Rockwall, Texas was called to be with the Lord on September 2, 2017, at the age of 78. He was a 1957 graduate of Snyder High School, then went to San Angelo Junior College. He left college and went to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space Division in Sunnyvale, California where he met his first wife, Jane Jackson. They married in 1966 and moved to Alvin, Texas where he worked for NASA's Johnson Space Center in Clear Lake, Texas. In 1969, their first child, Suzanne Elizabeth, was born and in 1973, their second child, Steven Jackson, was born. While working and being a father, L.F. went back to college and earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Houston Clear Lake. In 1999, Jane Jackson passed away from breast cancer. Later he married Meta Johnson and they moved to Ingram, Texas in 2001 where he lived until he passed.\r\n \r\nL.F. was a member of two churches while he lived in Texas, Alvin Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville. While living in Alvin, he was involved with the church council and choir throughout his years there. While living in Ingram, he was a member of the church choir.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Fortner Sr. and Aline Tresenriter Cox, and his first wife, Jane Jackson Cox. \r\n \r\nL.F. is survived by his wife, Meta Johnson Cox, daughter, Suzanne Cox Mau, son, Steven Jackson and Becca Cox, stepson, Erik Burris, and sister, Sue Elrod, his three grandchildren, Lyndsay, Elisia, and Samuel, and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nL.F. was loved by all and will be greatly missed.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville officiated by Pastor Mike Williams.\r\n
