Lee Livingston

December 17, 1935 — August 24, 2020

Lee Preston Livingston passed away on August 24, 2020 in Kerrville, Texas. Lee was born on December 17, 1935, in Marshall, Texas, to Lee P. (Ike) and Magdalena Livingston. The family moved to Dallas where Lee attended Bradford Junior High and graduated from Highland Park High School.\r\n\r\nIn 1960, Lee married Jo Ann Jernigan of Memphis, Tennessee. They are proud parents of son Jeff Livingston, and daughter, Pamela Frierson, as well as his grandchildren, Matthew of Dallas, Preston Livingston of Saginaw, Michigan, and Sloan Malone of Louisville, Kentucky.\r\n\r\nAfter graduating from SMU in 1963, he began his career in the Claims Department in Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. He later joined USAA, where he retired after 17 years.\r\n\r\nHe had a lifelong interest in sports beginning at Highland Park as a Varsity Basketball player. He also became quite a baseball player and swimmer, playing and coaching both at the Dallas YMCA. In his 40's he became an avid runner, running the Dallas White Rock Marathon to celebrate his 42nd birthday. After running many other races and six more marathons, Lee was forced to give up running with a serious knee injury. Not one to sit still, Lee became a bicyclist. He made several trips to Colorado for road races, and completed several 100 mile rides. When he was forced to give up riding, he took up fly fishing. He was proud to be a member of the Hill Country and the Fredericksburg Fly Fishing Clubs for several years, competing in several tournaments.\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007 and abandoned all sports. For a while he was able to continue his lifelong interest in photography until the ability to operate a camera finally became too difficult.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank the staff of RiverPoint Assisted Living for the care they have given Lee for the past three years. Knowing that he was happy there and well cared for certainly made a hard decision easier!
