Leaton C. Cofield, Colonel - U.S. Army retired - passed away on December 17, 2015 in Kerrville, TX.\r\n \r\nHe was born on June 29, 1922 in Stonington, CO and was raised in Jet, OK by his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Steve Clark. He was preceded in death by wife of 45 yrs. Ruth Adora Whetzel, wife of 10 yrs. Linda Searcy, son Ivan Rex Cofield and son Michael Lee Cofield. He is survived by his son Steven Clark Cofield of San Antonio and his grandchildren Ruth Scott, Ivan Cofield, Melissa Canals and Eric Warren Cofield, great-grandsons Michael Scott and Nathan Canals and many other relatives and great friends, former NFL Coach Jim Hanifan of St. Louis, MO, Bing Bordier of Las Vegas, NV and Dr. Robert Hines of Minerva, OH.\r\n \r\nCol. Cofield was a veteran of the USMC and U.S. Army for over 30 yrs. He served and defended his country in WWII where he was wounded in action in the S. Pacific. He also served in the wars in Korea and Viet Nam\r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Garden of Memories in Kerrville, TX by Reverend Jim Morrow.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held 2-4 PM, Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n
