K.K. Brunsman

K. K. Brunsman died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Brookdale skilled nursing facility in Kerrville. He was 96 years old. He was born March 8, 1923 in Greenview, Illinois, the son of K. H. and Millie Hatch Brunsman. He married Mary Elizabeth Estill in June, 1940.\r\n\r\nHe graduated from Greenview High School in 1940 and from Brown's Business College before beginning his 47 year career in manufacturing in December with the John Hobbs Corporation, a manufacturer of automotive accessories that included hour meters, battery indicators, glove compartment lights, trunk lights and the first clock for automobiles.\r\n\r\nFrom 1941 to 1955, he was Chief Accountant and Auditor. From 1955 to 1963, he was Divisional Controller and Assistant General Manager at Hobbs Division of Stewart-Warner Corporation with responsibility extending to all areas of plant management.\r\n\r\nIn the fall of 1963, K. K. was assigned the job of starting up Stewart-Warners operations in the new field of high tech in the area that was to become known as Silicon Valley. He was Executive Vice-President and General Manager of Stewart-Warner Microcircuits, Inc. in Sunnyvale, California from 1963 to 1966 responsible for land acquisition, construction of physical plant, and recruitment of trained technical personnel capable of transforming design effort into production hardware, an opportunity of considerable challenge in a new industry rapidly developing. He returned to Stewart-Warner Corporate headquarters in Chicago in 1966 where he was Assistant Controller until he retired.\r\n\r\nK. K. was a member and deacon in First Presbyterian Church Springfield, Illinois. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Ansar Shrine and Masonic Lodge 653 in Greenview. He was a Past President and National Director of National Association of Accountants (NAA).\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Paula; brother, Robert; and sister, Eleanor. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Stanley of Kerrville; brother, George (Dolores) of Littleton, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\n\r\nThe Brunsman family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Brookdale Skilled Nursing Facility and Peterson Hospice for their loving care.\r\n\r\nA private family memorial service will be held at a later date.\r\n\r\nMemorial contributions may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N.
