Katherine E Boyce passed at home surrounded by family on July 26, 2024 at the age of 94. Born in Dallas, Tx on July 23, 1930 to Charles and Lela Wachter, Katherine spent her growing up years in Uvalde, Tx. She attended Uvalde Schools, then later SWTJC, San Antonio College, receiving degrees in Accounting and Business. Katherine met her husband Everette E Boyce of Utopia at 18 years old and said it was love at first sight. They soon married on September 10, 1948, and started life in the Texas Hill Country. Everette and Katherine enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Over the years they had three children, owned several businesses, and traveled the world. Katherine was a licensed real estate broker at her passing. She enjoyed painting and was a founding member of the Utopia Arts and Crafts Guild. She was active in Eastern Star, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Texas Society DAR Sabinal Canyon chapter, and Uvalde de Las Encinas chapter. Katherine was also in Hood’s Texas Brigade Assoc, San Antonio Art League, and San Antonio Art Assoc., and Texas Real Estate Commission. Katherine shared her passions for dance and art with many children over the years teaching classes. She and Everette enjoyed golfing and played on many courses across the US and Hawaii. They were members of the Utopia Methodist Church for over 70 years.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Everette Boyce Sr, her parents Charles and Lela Wachter, brother Carly Wachter, and grandson Jonathan Masin, brother in law Louis (LM) Boyce and wife Margaret, brother in law Ralph Boyce and wife Jane. Katherine is survived by her children Everette Boyce Jr and wife, Becky of Bandera, Cathy Olsen and husband, Chris of New Braunfels, and Suzy B Sims and husband, Bill of Utopia. Blessed with 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren with one more on the way. She also leaves behind many extended family and friends who will miss her sweet smile and bright laugh.
Graveside service will be August 24, 2024 10:30 AM at Jones Cemetery in Utopia, Tx. Reception will follow at Utopia Methodist Church. Donations are appreciated to Utopia Volunteer Fire Dept, Utopia EMS, and Shepherds for Lost Sheep, Inc.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel.
